What is FSSC 22000?

FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification) is an internationally recognized certification scheme for food safety management systems. Based on ISO standards, sector-specific Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs), and additional FSSC requirements, it provides a robust framework for ensuring the production of safe food, feed, and packaging.

Version 6.0, released in April 2023, incorporates:

• Updates based on ISO 22003-1:2022,
• Stronger alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
• Enhanced food safety and quality culture requirements.

The scheme is benchmarked and recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), making it trusted worldwide by retailers, manufacturers, and consumers.

How to get FSSC 22000 certified?

Cotecna can provide an accredited certification against the FSSC 22000 standard. Clients and customers willing to undergo certification needs to complete the application and contract agreement process following which initial or re-certification audits will be carried out. Once the certificate is issued (with a 3 year validity), further surveillance audits will have to be carried out at pre-defined frequencies to maintain the validity of the certificate.
